How to Choose a Personal Trainer
There are a few basics to look for in selecting a personal trainer. First of all, you will be spending a lot of time with this person, and putting your health in their hands, so they have to be someone you feel comfortable with.

Education
The personal trainer you choose should have a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, from an accredited university, in at least one or more of the following fields: Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sport Management, or something along these lines.

Certification
The personal trainer you choose should preferably have both a degree and be certified, but at the very least they absolutely need to be certified! There a number of certifying bodies that exist to certify personal trainers. Some of them are listed below but this is just a partial listing:

  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA)
